Dr. Sam graduated medical school at the University of South Dakota with an MD/PhD and then went on to do residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Washington in Seattle. She came to the Boise VA for a chief year, serving as the chief resident in quality and safety before returning to UW for a Geriatrics Fellowship. She then took a staff position at the Boise VA where she works as an inpatient attending, precepts in the outpatient resident clinic, and takes care of her little old men in the VA’s skilled and rehab unit. She invests a lot of time in resident teaching with a passion for evidence-based medicine. She also leads a seemingly endless number of quality improvement projects. In her spare time she makes music with her band bright red blood.
