Joe Adler, MD
Joe Adler, MD, is a board-certified Pulmonary & Critical Care physician working at the Seattle VA. In addition to clinical work in the Medical ICU and on Pulmonary Consults, he directs the Procedure Service, where he spends the majority of his time working with learners. He is passionate about helping trainees to develop skills and confidence with bedside ultrasound and percutaneous procedures. In residency, he conducted research with Dr. Randy Curtis exploring best practices for patient/family communication around advanced illness. This work has endured as a cornerstone in how he approaches patient care, where intentional exploration of patient goals and preferences may inform a personalized care approach.
Dr. Adler earned his MD from the University of Washington. He stayed at UW for his internal medicine residency and completed a chief residency at Harborview Medical Center. He completed fellowship training in Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine before joining the faculty full time at the Seattle VA in 2019.
