Dr. Schutz joined the Digestive Health Clinic in 2001 after 13 years in the Air Force. A native of New York, Dr. Schutz has lived in various places during his time in the military, including Ohio, North Carolina, Texas, and California. He graduated from Albany Medical College in 1988 before completing his internal medicine residency at Wright Patterson Medical Center in Dayton, Ohio. Dr. Schultz completed his gastroenterology fellowship at Duke University Medical Center, where he obtained additional training in advanced endoscopic therapy of the bile duct and pancreas. Dr. Schultz has published extensively in GI Literature, and is board-certified in gastroenterology. He is a fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology as well as a member of the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. He is a past President of the Ada County Medical Society and former State Governor for the American College of Gastroenterology.  He has been an Idaho Gut Club member since he arrived in Idaho in 2001.  Dr. Schutz served as Governor in 2006-2007 and 2003-2014.
