ECHO Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementias

According to the Idaho Bureau of Vital Records and Health Statistics, Alzheimer’s disease was listed as the sixth leading cause of death in Idaho. Although Alzheimer’s disease is the most recognized, there are over 100 different types of dementias. Dementia would be the 3rd leading cause of death if all types were ranked as a group.

Since ADRD takes years to develop, there are opportunities for clinicians to help patients develop and maintain healthy lifestyle habits that could reduce their risk of ADRD or slow its progression. In fact, studies indicate that nearly 40% of Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias (ADRD) cases may be prevented or delayed.

ECHO Idaho’s Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias series provides an opportunity to learn best practices to identify, treat and manage brain health and other dementia-related concerns.
